Competition Rules

Craigieburn Angling Club Competition Rules for 2015-16 season.
Definitions

Surf competition:
 
Restricted to nominated area land based ocean fishing from a sand beach only.

Open Ocean competition:  Fishing from boats, land, and or man-made structures.

River competition:  Restricted to nominated river only unless specified otherwise, bank or boat fishing

Lake competition:  Restricted to nominated lake only unless specified otherwise, land based or boat lake fishing.

Open saltwater competition:  Any Victorian saltwater including estuary, bay or ocean

Open freshwater competition:
  Any Victorian freshwater river or lake excluding estuary waters


Rule1


All competitions are to be fished in specified waters between specified times.

Rule2

Unless agreeable by both parties, no competitor shall fish within five metres of another member when fishing in streams and eight metres when fishing surf.

Rule 3

The Angling Club Committee at the commencement of each competition season shall lay down the trophy awards.

Rule 4

Should the member or members protesting not be satisfied with the Angling Club Committee decision then the protest will be heard by the Executive Committee and their decision will be final.

Rule 5

The following fish are not weighable.  Carp, Gurnard, Crayfish, Ells, Squid, Tench, Rays, Skate, Parrot fish, Spikey, Port Jackson shark, Banjo shark, Leopard shark & Carpet shark.

Rule 6

Club minimum size weighable limits. Refer to the Table below.

All other salt water fish without a legal size limit is set at 25cm.

All fish will be known by their bread name and different named fish will be treated as a different species. IE Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout will be classified as two different species.

Rule 7

If undersized fish are presented for a weigh-in the bag will be disqualified.

Rule 8

All fish can be weighed in whole or gutted.

Rule 9

A minimum bag weight of 0.3Kg must be achieved by at least one angler before a weigh-in can be validated.               A maximum bag of ten best fish per species, or a maximum bag limit allowable under the current state fishing regulations, for any species to be weighed in on daily competitions.  And the same per day for weekend competitions.

Rule10

Club competition’s, are to be restricted to one competition per month. Each completion be restricted to two days over a weekend. You can fish either the Saturday or the Sunday excluding the two one day charters. All fish must be weighed in within twenty four hours. If a competition is cancelled it will be held on the following weekend.

Rule 11

A points system is to be decided upon at each Annual General Meeting. The member who has achieved the most points in any one classification will be the winner of that classification provided they have weighed in at least one fish for the season.

The point system for competitions is based on the total bag weight and where a multiple species competition is held the total bag weight is multiplied by a multi species factor. I.e. Five species weighing 3.0kg X 1.5= 4.5Kg which is the multi species bag weight.

Others who weigh fish in get 5 points.Members who weigh fish do not get attendance points.

If you have fished a competition and had no fish to weigh in then you get 2 Points for attendance but you must notify the weigh master with in the time allowed (24 Hours). This can be done by phone.

 

Rule 12

Nominations for competitions are to be lodged at the General Meeting prior to the competition.One or more anglers constitute a competition.  Definition of two anglers. (A financial senior member and a child seven years of age or over would be classified as two anglers).

Rule 13

Open weekend trips are to be combined surf, rock, pier, estuary, freshwater.  For all competition's that require a charter or accommodation booking, members must pay a deposit to hold their booking.  This is a non-refundable deposit if withdrawn with less than 48 hours notice.

Rule 14

Members are allowed to practice catch and release by using a brag mat to measure their catch, which must be verified by another member or a photograph/s. Anglers must accept the brag sheet indicated weights as the official weight of their catch.

Rule 15

Membership fees must be paid by the September club meeting or any points accumulated will not count.  All non-financial members are not eligible for club discounts.

Rule 16

NO competition to be held on a Mothers Day, Fathers Day.  The committee has the right to add a long weekend competition if they see the need.
